ePortfolio Scotland 2010

10 Sep 2010 (Full day event)
09:30 - 16:10
Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, EH21 6UU

--- LIMITED SPACES ---
Brief Details:The conference, organised by the JISC Regional Support Centre, brings together practitioners from further and higher education to examine how the use of e-Portfolios has evolved and what the future might hold for this most personal of electronic learning aids.
Information:

With examples of best practice from the UK and Australia, an insight to the practical implications of emerging standards and hands-on workshops guiding you through the use of
e-Portfolio platforms and the third-party tools used to support those systems - this event has something for everyone.

Featuring:

  • Margaret Faulkner, who brings a perspective of how
e-Portfolios are used at the University of South Australia (published case study from PebblePad 2010 conference)

  • Simon Grant, leading development of the Leap2A
    e-Portfolio specification
, explains the implications for front-line users

  • Derrin Kent, author of Mahara 1.2 ePortfolios: Beginner's Guide, speaks about why open source makes sense, the importance of reflective learning for work-based learning and how QCF unit outcomes can be tracked via a 'mahoodle' integration

  • Masterclass workshops on recording video evidence to suit a variety of situations, and producing audio feedback for students

  • SQA e-Portfolio CPD session, which will lead you through the use of awarding body's DeskSpace platform and how it has been used to support candidates studying for Skills for Work qualifications.

  • And much, much more, including a series of innovative (and successful) case studies of how e-Portfolios have been used in education and industry

There's also the opportunity for you to get involved - we're setting up a 'TeachMeet' area during the lunch session, where we'll be inviting delegates to step up and share their experiences of good practice or useful technology related to e-Portfolios in the form of short 5-minute presentations. It's quite informal - if you want to use slides you can, or if you simply want to get up and talk, that's fine too! So if you're interested in presenting, just visit our wiki and sign up for a slot (any problems using the wiki - just email us and we'll sign you up from here).

A full programme will be available shortly on this page - check back for more details. For now, you can download the draft version of the programme.

The event which is FREE to delegates is limited to 100 places, so make sure to book early to avoid missing out!
